Breaking: Many die as trailer loaded with people, goods crashes

Scores of people have been feared dead as a trailer loaded with building tiles and people lost control and fell. The accident occurred along Sheme- Yankara road in Katsina.

A witness said the trailer which was coming from Funtua and heading probably towards Gusau or Sokoto had many people on top of the load it was carrying.

He said the propeller of the trailer loosened, forcing the trailer off the main road and either throwing away the people perched on it or falling on them.

“I can’t tell you how many died but 32 people both seriously injured and dead were rushed to the General Hospital Funtua. Many of those sitting on the trailer have died.

The way some people were when we retrieved them from the accident scene, it will only be God’s mercy if they survive,” he said.
