ASUU strike: Ogun Baptist Conference calls for amicable resolution

The President, Ogun Baptist Conference, Reverend (Dr) Adesegun Jayesimi, has urged the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and the Federal Government to find amicable solutions towards ending the current strike action by ASUU.

He stated this at a news briefing to herald the 40th conference-in-session of the Ogun Baptist Conference, scheduled to run from 19 August to August 23, 2017, at Victory Baptist Church, Obantoko, Abeokuta, with the theme, Moving Forward as Overcomers with Celebration.

The conference is expected to host former President Olusegun Obasanjo and the governor of the state, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, among other dignitaries.

Speaking on state of the nation, Jayesimi, condemned the attack and killing of worshippers at St. Phillip’s Catholic Church, Ozubulu, Anambra State, during service and urged security agencies to bring the perpetrators to book.

He equally advised that security around worship centres should be beefed up to check attacks.

He prayed for the quick recovery of President Muhammadu Buhari and commended the acting president, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, for administering the nation well.

He appreciated the Ogun State government for the construction of model schools in the state and asked that mission schools should be handed over to original owners for positive impact in secondary education in the state.
